    Vintage POPPYTRAIL METLOX STRAWBERRY COOKIE JAR. Condition is very, very good, presumably used. Shipped with FedEx or UPS. No chips, cracks, crazing. Remains of original label attached. A few blemishes on the bottom as is typical with use. Dimensions are in the photos. Approximately 9.5” high with lid by 8” wide. Lots of room for cookies!
    Some history: Metlox (a contraction of metallic oxide) was founded In 1927 Manhattan Beach, CA, to make outdoor ceramic signs. In 1931, it was converted to dinnerware production. The fMetlox dinnerware was produced in 1932, called "California Pottery" and boasted bright colored glazes. "Poppytrail" was introduced in 1934 in 15 different colors. As the poppy is California’s state flower, it made sense as a trade name. Most of the metallic oxides used to make Metlox pottery were mined in California.
