Vintage Poppytrail by Metlox Hand Painted Plate Nude Woman, Risque Pin-up

DESCRIPTION:
Rare and unusual vintage Metlox Poppytrail plate with hand painted, risque, pin-up style artwork on the front and back. I have several of these plates that I will be offering (I sold one last year), but I have never seen any others. I believe the artwork was done at the factory, as it is under the glaze. The artwork is not signed, but is reminiscent of some of Carl Romanelli's work for Metlox.
The plate measures 9 1/8" in diameter and has the impressed "Poppytrail By Metlox" mark on the back which began be used in 1934. The front features a "blonde bombshell" wearing some short shorts, tight sweater and blue high heels. On back is another view of the same girl wearing nothing but the high heels. I would guess the plate dates to the 1940s or so.
Excellent condition with no chips or cracks. A few light craze marks in the clear glaze (minor).
