Vintage Metlox Tropicana Poppytrail Fish Tray Platter Plate Mid Century Modern.
Huge!!! Beautiful Vintage Metlox Tropicana Fish Salad
Or service g bowl. Mid Century Modern minimalist style. It measures approx 16” across 3” tall. It is in amazing condition with the exception of the small chip on the underside rim. It’s small but it’s there. See photos. Also there is a light line between the lower body and fin (right side) not a chip or crack, maybe a utensil Mark I can’t feel with my finger, little Gold rub on eye. Please see photos. Piece is in very good condition considering age and size.
Metlox Potteries was established by TC Prouty in Manhatten Beach California in 1927. Only in 1947, after it was purchased by Evan K Shaw, did dinner ware become its major business. It had two major dinnerware lines Vernonware and Poppytrail.
Tropicana Originals- Tropical Fish. Shape by Bob Allen/Mel Shaw/Frank Irwin. Design by Helen Nerbovig McIntosh (1915-1992). First produced in 1957. Rather hard to find and desirable pattern.
